Vince Burlapp Car Page: 2012 VW Passat CC

Vince Burlapp Car Page: 2012 VW Passat CC

Looks like a more streamlined version of the current CC, and yes, it uses that same VW grill that everything else is now getting grafted on. At least it kinda looks better than the old chrome grille.

BREAKING: Lamborghini bringing out the Jota LB715-5 and the 83X

The first one would obviously be their new, 715 horsepower supercar (but what the 5 means is beyond me. Previous, 2 and 4 meant how many wheels drove the car).

The real news is the Lamborghini 83X, which was teased in the 10-porthole shot.

That, my friends, is 10 portholes, not 12. Lamborghini ain't ditching the V12 at any point in the recent future. Therefore, this is something else. This is either the production version of the Lamborghini Estoque, or a new Gallardo replacement.

The dark horse would be that this is a new front-engined GT car looking to take on either the Ferrari 599 GTB or 612 Scaglietti.

But most likely this is the other two, and whatever this is, it will have a V10.

The other two teaser shots:

A taillight teaser.

SPY SHOTS: 2012/2013 Ford Fusion/Ford Mondeo/Lincoln MKZ

This might not look like it, but this Ford Mondeo is actually a test mule for the all-new Mondeo, Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, which will all be one global car with different names come the next generation.

SPY SHOTS: 2012 Hyundai HED-5

Hyundai has been caught testing their new Mazda5-competitor in Scandinavia. This new Hyundai Elantra-based space wagon alludes to the reason why the Kia Rondo was recently cancelled, as Kia can be expected to get their own version of this vehicle as well. The compact microvan will come with 3 rows of seats. Engine choices are unknown, but Hyundai previously hinted that the production version of the iMode concept (which is what this is) could come with a turbocharged 4-cylinder (the one used in the powerful Sonata Turbo), which would make this one hot ride for a microvan.

SPY SHOTS: 2011/2012 Hyundai i40 CW (AKA: Hyundai Sonata Wagon)

Well well well - after some speculation regarding this very possibility, Hyundai has been caught red-handed parading around a nice, disguised wagon version of the new Hyundai Sonata! There's a catch, though - this was caught in France by a French magazine, and will be called the Hyundai i40 CW when it is released there, and who knows if it will come out in America or not - but considering the seeming growing desire for wagons over here, the possibility of a Hyundai Sonata Wagon (or Touring?) really is not that far-fetched.

RENDERED: The Subaru "Toyobaru" RWD coupe

As we all know, Toyota and Subaru have been developing a new RWD coupe together, the "toyobaru" has fans and enthusiasts have taken to calling it. Both versions of the car are known to feature a flat-4, courtesy of Subaru, but overall, both companies are providing and sharing the technology involved in this car. Toyota has provided plenty of renders to show off their version of the Toyobaru coupe, first dubbed the FT-86 concept, now called the FR-S. The name is still unknown in Subaru guise, and no official renderings have come out, but this illustration shows what the Subaru RWD coupe could and should look like when it arrives here.

RENDERED: Saab 9-2 (92) and Saab 9-3

The Saab 9-2 (or 92) and 9-3 are coming soon, with real pretty new designs by Jason Castriota and new platforms that are non-GM related, and these renderings could be a nice little preview of what the real thing might look like. The first two pictures of the small Saab hatchback would be the Saab 92 or 9-2 (or even Saab 9-1), which, according to sources, Saab will outsource to BMW, to build off of the MINI platform, using MINI hardware, but built as a Saab. The new 9-3 should be built off of the new Spyker-designed Phoenix platform.

RENDERED: 2012/2013 Hyundai Veloster (Tiburon)

The very long awaited Hyundai Veloster has been said to be on the way out here, to America, under one of many different names - the next Hyundai Accent (which is debunked), the next Hyundai Tiburon (which is still entirely possible), or with the name it has now. But either way, when this car comes to America, it is no doubt going to be, like everything else Hyundai comes up with, a huge hit. And now, thanks to these renderings from Theophilus Chin, we know a little more of what we're going to be getting.

RENDERED: 2012/2013 BMW 3-series Gran Turismo

Following on the heels of the BMW X6 and the BMW 5-series Gran Turismo, in the hatchback-coupe-sedan-egg category, or whatever one might consider it, comes a brand new rendering of the new BMW 3-series Gran Turismo, courtesy of French magazine Auto Journal. Judging by the pictures, the Gran Turismo hatchback-sedan shape works much better on the smaller BMW 3-series than on the nearly 7-series-sized 5-series Gran Turismo, which is to date, despite being a very versatile and innovative BMW, has not exactly been the fastest seller, and compared to its BMW brethren, is rather homely looking.

SPY SHOTS: 2012/2013 Hyundai Veloster

It's been a long time coming, and its slow unveil has been even longer and more drawn out (and somewhat less hyped up) than the all new 2011/2012 Ford Explorer. And the more it's seen, the more details come out about it, and the more excitement this little hatchback-coupe creates. Hyundai just continues to rise and rise to the occasion, picking off its competitors chunk by chunk, and playing one big game of "Anything you can do, I can do better" with every model they make.

OFFICIALLY REVEALED: 2011/2012 Ford Explorer

Ford has been working for a very, very long time on the new Ford Explorer, which they say is going to reinvent the SUV for the 21st century. The traditional body-on-frame SUV market has died, and Ford is going where the new money is: the crossover market, and they are taking one of their biggest historical moneymakers there with them, too. And now, after a very long, slow, unveiling process by Ford with the new Ford Explorer, which comes out for the first time in crossover form, Ford has finally unveiled the new Explorer to the masses for the first time this morning.

SPIED: 2012/2013 Mercedes-Benz S-class

This is the new Mercedes S-class, as rendered by Autobild. Personally, I question the rendering a LITTLE bit, however, they have always been right before, so I don't see why they would start being wrong now.

The new S will, as previously reported, be an all-hybrid lineup, except for the AMG models. A V12 will still be used in the top model.

2013/2014 Jaguar E-type/XE Sedan

This is the new 3-series fighter Jaguar E-type sedan (XE sedan?) rendered above. The new 3-series fighter will come in several different variations and bodystyles, according to Jag boss Carl-Peter Forster. Under Tata's reign, Jaguar is surely looking to fill its lineup and put up quite the fight against BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

2014 MINI Canyon?

Following hot on the heels of the Mini Countryman, the new 3-door MINI Canyon crossover is next, ready to take on the new Range Rover Evoque. It will not be the final name (GM already has the rights to the Canyon name), but look for the new MINI Canyon to come with 4-seats and a new coupe-like roofline, yet the added height of the MIN Countryman as well.

2013 Toyota Corolla

The 2013 Toyota Corolla has surfaced, at least in the form of a rendering. The below photo is a picture of what the new Corolla is expected to look like and, true to form, Toyota impresses absolutely nobody. It looks like it will borrow some of the next Yaris' design language and, according to reports from www.autoten.com, it will be built off of the same platform as the Yaris, meaning it will potentially be smaller than the current Corolla. Expect slightly downsized engines for this one.

2012/2013 BMW 1-series Gran Turismo

The BMW 1-series has been quite successful in hatchback form, but one of the knocks against it, compared to its competition, has been interior space and habitability. But according to French magazine Automobile-magazine.fr, BMW is preparing a longer, taller 1-series Gran Turismo, in the vain of its 5-series brother. Reports are that the 1 GT will be 5 CM (around 2 inches) longer than the standard 1-series will be, and taller as well, to allow for elevated seating positions (think Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe seating positions). The rear seats will either be a 3-seat bench or 2 seats. Expect it to share engines with the MINI Countryman, as well as the upcoming 4-cylinder BMW models. RWD and an 8-speed automatic will also be featured, although hopefully BMW will stick with tradition and offer a stick.

2012/2013 Mercedes-Benz B-class

The new B-class 5-door has been both spied and rendered by French magazine Automobile-magazine.fr. It will benefit from Benz's partnership with Nissan-Renault, receiving Renault's 0.9 liter turbocharged 3-cylinder gas engine as an entry-level model; however, if it comes to the USA, expect a turbocharged 4-cylinder as an entry option. It will leave behind the sandwich architecture, instead taking on a traditional FWD, front-engined architecture.

2012/2013 Lancia (Chrysler?) Delta tested on American soil

The Lancia Delta hatchback was already displayed on American soil, but now it's been caught driving around Detroit for the first time. Reports indicate that the car was zipping back and forth around known test tracks in Michigan. While the car that was caught has its full Lancia badging, swapping out the grill and logos to change it into a Chrysler would be very easy to do, and would give Chrysler an attractive replacement for the lame-duck PT Cruiser.

2012/2013 Mercedes-Benz C-class coupe

The new Benz C-class coupe. Because the E coupe is based on the C platform, it remains to be seen how Mercedes will differentiate this one from the E, but most likely, it will be more sporty and more economical than the E cruiser-coupe.

RENDERING: 2013/2014 BMW CompactivE / Megacity EV

The best looking rendering I've ever seen for this car, but right now, it's probably
the most accurate (that I can tell). Will it be the Megacity when it comes out, or the new BMW CompactivE? Or some alphanumeric name? The 0-series? Maybe the i1 or i2?

2012/2013 Chevrolet (Chevy) Malibu

Almost completely undisguised. The spy shots make the design very obvious - only the rear C-pillar area and a few areas of the hood are covered, as well as the trunk and lights. The current Malibu has an expensive road presence - will this one have the same thing? Or will it blend in with the rather sizeable crowd of mid-sizers? Either way, it's obvious Chevy's never going back to the second-generation days of ugly Malibus.

2012 Volkswagen Jetta Coupe

Patent drawings of the new Volkswagen Jetta Coupe. The coupe was previewed by the Volkswagen NCC (new car concept), and stays true to both the concept and to VW's new design direction in general. Now, can somebody out there who's good with CG work come up with a good rendering?

2012 MG MG3

That's a nice-looking hatchback. I wouldn't mind seeing it come to the USA.

2012 Chery (Riich?)A6CC

Reminds me of a ... I don't know. But it's pretty original and decent-looking.

2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS-class

Much better looking than the current CLS.

201? MINI Minivan

If there is a MINI van concept at some point in the future, I REALLY hope it's nicer than this.

2012 Mitsubishi Evo XI?

Rendering of the new Mitsubishi Lancer Evo XI. Not too far off from the current model, but still good-looking.
